The Florida Healthy Kids Corporation is hosting its annual Florida KidCare Act Out for Health Contest. Created for kids in grades 4-12, this contest allows students to design a billboard, create a 30-second commercial, or write an essay which is new this year. We’re asking the students to help spread the word about the state’s affordable health insurance program, Florida KidCare, for children 0-18.
This is a great way for students to show their creativity and for teachers to incorporate some fun and educational projects to their curriculum. To make things easier, sample lesson plans have been created to assist with in-class effort. Plus these plans line up with the Sunshine State Standards
All entries are due by Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. District, regional and statewide winners will be selected by a panel of judges. Winning entries will be featured in the winner’s hometown and recognized during a statewide press conference in Orlando. Plus, scholarship prizes will be awarded.
For more information, rules and inspiration, students can visit the contest page or the Facebook Fan Page for updates.
