Fort Pierce, FL - David Lawrence, Jr. and Sergio Bendixen, the major forces behind the Children's Movement of Florida, will be in Fort Pierce on Monday, June 20, to meet with the regional steering committee for the initiative to debrief the 2011 legislative session.
The Children's Movement of Florida is a statewide, grass roots children's advocacy group created in the summer of 2010 by Lawrence, former publisher of the Miami Herald, and other powerful state leaders. The mission of the movement is to continue to bring adequate funding for children's education and health care issues to the forefront of legislators and Governor Rick Scott.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 9 AM in the board meeting room at the St. Lucie County School District Offices at 4204 Okeechobee Road in Fort Pierce. "We encourage the community to listen to the discussion about the Children's Movement and what next steps can be developed," remarked St. Lucie County School Board chairman Kathryn Hensley, who is the regional representative to the state steering committee for the Children's Movement of Florida.
