Do children pay the price when their mothers work?

Posted on 11/02/2010 @ 09:14 AM

A new review of existing scientific literature finds that young children whose mothers return to work do not, for the most part, experience greater academic or behavioral problems than the young children of stay-at-home moms.

"The researchers found little evidence to suggest that mothers who work part-time or full-time have children with problems in later life," according to an article published on Time Magazine's website.

Moreover, researchers found quite the opposite: Children whose mothers worked when the kids were younger than 3 were later rated as higher-achieving by teachers and had fewer problems with depression and anxiety.
