Moving through Central Florida...

It was a busy day in Central Florida for the Children's Movement of Florida! The morning started with the presentation of the 2011 Children's Movement of Florida platform to the Volusia County legislative delegation by Donna Sue Sanders. She did an outstanding job presenting the 5 issues to the 10 legislators, some of which echoed the same concerns and issues other agencies voiced to the delegation. Senator Alan Hays (R-Umatilla) noted that the previous week the Senate Children, Families and Elder Affairs committee discussed the creation of a "children's code," which would streamline many of the laws related to children.
Led by Linda Merrell, the Volusia County Steering Committee met immediately after the delegation meeting. The group has been meeting on a regular basis and planned to continue to do so in the coming year. More excellent ideas were generated on how to spread the word about the movement. Thank you so much for your passion!
That afternoon, the 16 members of the Orange County legislative delegation met in the Orange County Commission Chambers. Sarah Sprinkel presented the 2011 platform with gusto, asking all the Children's Movement of Florida supporters in the audience to wave their hands. Seeing the turnout was heartening and so appreciated!
Special thanks to Nick Duran, CMF's state coordinator, and Jeralyn Eckhoff for helping to greet supporters.
