Speaking to the Children's Cabinet in Osceola County

Posted on 01/21/2011 @ 10:26 AM

Yesterday, I spoke to about 50 members of the Osceola Children's Cabinet about the Children's Movement of Florida's latest efforts. It was a great group of people who are already so passionate and dedicated to protecting, educating and/or helping children. I followed an "Advocacy 101" session led by Dawn Stuart who speaks for the Florida PTA. After showing the video and presenting the 2011 platform, I could tell I was "preaching to the choir." But, it was uplifting to me to have so many supportive people in a county doing their best to address children's needs.

After that meeting, the representatives of the Children's Cabinets of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Brevard, Polk, Highlands, and Hardee counties met to talk about their latest endeavors. I had the opportunity to have a lengthy discussion about CMF's efforts in the area and statewide and to ask for advice about our next steps.

I really appreciated the participation of everyone, and particularly to Susan Crutchfield who invited me to the two events.
