There's a Dark Cloud Hanging Over the Sunshine State

If you believe Florida to be the "land of sunshine and opportunity," you may want to read a recent report released by the Florida Center for Fiscal and Economic Policy.
According to the report, more than 2.7 million Floridians -- 850,000 of them children -- live below the poverty level. Florida is the third worst state in the percentage of children under the age of 18 without health insurance, and 35th in the nation in the "well-being" of its children. And to top it off, Florida is dead last (50th) for government expenditures on education per capita.
