Wrapping Up Our Listening Tour in Key West

After traversing the state over the last 2 months, we finally wrapped up our 17 city Listening Tour yesterday in Key West (Wesley House). With the threat of Hurricane Irene looming earlier this week, we contemplated cancelling our final stop of the tour. Nonetheless, we decided to proceed. Fast forward to Thursday: Sunny skies and a room filled with the dedicated local leaders of The Keys.

It only seems fitting to wrap things up in The Keys. The final stop of our Milk Party Tour last September was in Key West as well. But beautiful water, cheerful people and quaint buildings aside, we have some of the most devoted people in our state out west. All of our Monroe committee members have a strong sense of community, and work tirelessly to improve the lives of those around them, especially for children.

We walked away from yesterday with some novel ideas. Even though we heard from 16 other committees prior, ingenuity still showed its face. We are grateful for the leadership that we have supporting our work both in Monroe County, as well as the entire state of Florida.
