Movement Talks - October 18, 2016
Eleven Orange County community leaders from the private and non-profit sectors joined The Children’s Movement of Florida for a dinner and discussion about the state of early childhood programs in the area. It was clear that some people might not fully understand the importance of the first five years of a child’s life. And that, coupled with a lack of local private sector and political buy-in, are important hurdles to securing early investment into what every child in Florida should be entitled to--a high-quality early learning experience. Glen Gilzean, CEO of the Central Florida Urban League, put it bluntly: “Why aren’t we doing something?” At the end of the evening, the leaders at the table agreed to continue working together and seek ways to bring other Orange residents to help children reach their full potentials.
