"In Polk County, Carol Jenkins Barnett is well-known as an advocate for children who for decades has reached deep in her pocketbook to fund initiatives. But the Lakeland resident is also well-known at the state level as a children's advocate and this evening she is to receive the state's top award recognizing activists on behalf of children, the Chiles Advocacy Award. It will be presented at the Children's Week Awards Dinner and reception at the University Center Club at Florida State University in Tallahassee as part of Children's Week festivities."
