Sep 6, 2010
PENSACOLA - There's a new movement sweeping the state and the campaign started rolling in Pensacola this morning.
The Florida Children's Movement is a statewide initiative to make children the highest priority of government, business, non-profit agencies and families. Organizers stress that this platform is non-partisan and isn't about more taxes.
David Lawrence/Florida Children's Movement founder "We can somehow figure out how to get 2.7 billion dollars for a bullet train that most Floridians won't go on, I'm not arguing against the bullet train. I'm saying, if we can find 2.7 million, billion, billion to do that, we ought to be doing better by fundamental programs that lead to successful adults."
The movement is hosting the nation's first ever gubernatorial debate focused solely on children's issues.
It will be broadcast on statewide television and on the internet on October 16th at 6 pm.
