Creative Engagement Associate

Born in Miami and raised in the Dominican Republic, Maribel graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor's degree in business administration, majoring in marketing communications. At UM she was a member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, The Dean's List and National Academic Honor Society, and ranked in the top 20% of her class.

With a background in brand management, social media and promotions, Maribel returned to Santo Domingo after graduation and had a short but successful career as a wine brand manager. She also began volunteering at a local children's hospital, and discovered her real passion was in helping others. To pursue that dream, her cousin suggested she go back to Miami to become a certified professional life coach.

While getting her coaching credential, Maribel also volunteered at the Nicklaus Children's Hospital. The joy and satisfaction she got in helping ailing young children eventually took her to a website about opportunities at non-profit organizations. She became intrigued by the early-childhood advocacy work of The Children's Movement of Florida and applied for a position.

Maribel, who is bilingual and bicultural, is now a creative engagement associate. Drawing on her communications experience, she helped create The Movement's #CupOfLove campaign, which offers tidbits of parenting advice to savor with the morning coffee. The campaign has reached more than 200,000 supporters through Facebook, and she took it to another level by partnering with trendy Miami-area coffee shops to share the thoughtful inspirations with their customers.

Outside of work, Maribel enjoys exercising, exploring new restaurants, reading about personal development, emotional intelligence and spirituality and training to run a marathon one day.
