Bio

Abigail Stephenson is an undergraduate studying Early Childhood Education at Florida International University. Coming from a family of teachers inspired her passion for education policy and researching support systems and resources for educators.

Throughout her undergraduate years, Abigail pursued opportunities in academic research, education, and community outreach. She has worked with faculty members at Miami Dade College and FIU to conduct research in the social science disciplines, ranging from elderly health care to inclusive education. As a civic leadership fellow with the CLEO Institute, Abigail helped organize and document climate education workshops empowering women from underrepresented communities. She also worked with teens in juvenile detention centers to deliver a transformative literacy curriculum, fostering a love of reading and personal growth.

Abigail is a Miami native, raised in Miami Gardens and North Miami Beach, where she was surrounded by a rich collection of different cultures. This environment shaped her beliefs in strengthening cross-cultural community alliances to better serve and address the needs of children and families.

Outside of academics and work, Abigail is a music enthusiast, frequently exploring different genres, curating playlists, and collecting CDs. Interestingly, she is also a horror movie/game fanatic, whereas as a child, she disliked the genre.
