Bio
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, John graduated from Miami University with a B.S. in Management and Organizations. He relocated to Florida to work as an organizer in The Children’s Project of Palm Beach, a one-month pilot that paved the way for The Children’s Movement of Florida. Shortly after, John became the regional coordinator for Miami-Dade, and was responsible for bringing together more than 1,700 supporters for a rally during Tropical Storm Julia. From October 2010 to December 2011, he served as the South Florida regional coordinator, overseeing committees in five communities.
In 2012, John developed and launched a statewide program called ReadingPals. Through to the generosity of Carol and Barney Barnett from Publix Supermarkets, as well as the hard work and support of 15 United Ways, John oversees the annual engagement of nearly 1,000 volunteers and 1,500 students from pre-K to third grade. You can sign up to become a ReadingPal here.
In addition to his work at The Movement, John has been actively involved in music for the last decade, playing in numerous bands. He spends his spare time working as a solo singer and playing the drums, guitar, bass, piano, viola and violin.
