2024 Florida Early Learning Recovery Fund

A Statewide Effort for Relief and Recovery

Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 storm in Florida’s Big Bend region on September 26, 2024. Two weeks later, Hurricane Milton made landfall approximately 150 miles south as a Category 3 on October 9, 2024. Flooding and damage from both storms stretched across much of the state.

Florida’s recovery depends on getting early learning programs back up and running. Without child care, parents can’t return to work, and our communities can’t rebuild. From emergency repairs to long-term recovery, we are committed to supporting centers and family child care homes, ensuring children receive the early education they need to thrive and that families have support to get back to work.

The 2024 Florida Early Learning Recovery Fund is a time-limited initiative by The Children’s Movement of Florida and the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Business Alliance for Early Learning Project. Working with local Early Learning Coalitions, this fund provides grants to impacted early learning programs, focusing on those with the highest need.

Florida was on the verge of a breakthrough in expanding early learning opportunities. Hurricanes Helene and Milton threaten to undo this progress, especially for vulnerable families. Ensuring children have access to quality care and education from an early age is vital for both immediate recovery and long-term workforce development.
